I think the shows during the 1950s showcased how the American society used to be extremely sexist and had strict gender roles established in society. As the industrialism began in America, the society became stricter with gender roles as women were expected to take care of the house even if she decides to work outside and at the same time, with the emergence of TV it became even more prominent that women will be sexualized trough televisions.
